Senior Staff Accountant

Responsibilities :

• Post and process journal entries for insurance operations activity
• Preparation of monthly general ledger account reconciliations
• Assist with monthly, quarterly and year end close
• Prepare NAIC / Regulatory STAT filings, which include quarterly and annual statements
• Various state and / or Regulatory Data Calls
• Support the internal and external audit process
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports for review by the executive team, the Office of Insurance Regulation, auditors, banking entities, and reinsurers.
• Continuously drives process improvement within the team and supports cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong understanding of Insurance Industry processes and experience preparing the NAIC Statutory Financial
• Strong attention to detail with quantitative skills and some experience in data analysis including proficiency in Excel with pivot tables and / or macros

Education :

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or other related field from a four-year institution. The bachelor's degree is a minimum educational requirement for this position, and cannot be waived.

Required Experience :

4 to 7 years in a staff accounting role in the property and casualty insurance industry. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with both GAAP and statutory accounting principles.

Skills & Knowledge :

• Microsoft Office Suite : Excel, Outlook, Word (required)
• General Ledger or Accounts Payable systems (required)
• Exceptional organization skills. Completes all administrative tasks in assigned times (required)

EAS, Biznet, Sungard, Wings / Sovos, TCP
