Full Job Description

Berger Recycling is currently looking for a mechanically-inclined individual as a full- or part-time maintenance technician for our equipment repair department.

We are interested in an eager and interested candidate who may want to expand their skills into the world of industrial maintenance and heavy equipment repair.

Duties

• Daily system checks on Bobcat loaders, forklifts, highway trucks, and plant processor stationary machinery. This includes replenishment of vital fluids, and documentation of worn or broken items.
• Perform essential preventative maintenance.
• Maintain parts inventory, and complete part runs to nearby vendors for stock.
• Assist plant personnel with general housekeeping, such as cleaning oil spills, and clearing debris from machine guards and access panels.

Preferred skills

• Mechanical experience as an automotive or manufacturing mechanic, or lube technician.
• Valid Driver’s License
• Minimal Tooling : the Maintenance Technician must furnish a small kit of basic tools, such as screwdrivers, simple wrenches, and sockets.

Sophisticated tooling is not required.

Other Job Requirements

• Must be able to lift 50lbs.
• Outdoor work is required. The Assistant Mechanic should expect to work in most weather, both hot and cold.

PPE Requirements

All plant employees, including those in the repair department, are required to wear safety-toe work boots at all times on property.

Sneakers are not sufficient. Scrapyards are dangerous places to work, and we take the safety of our personnel seriously.

Employees will also be required to wear company-furnished hard hats and safety glasses while in the plant, and will also be provided with gloves for necessary tasks.

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
