Space City Law Firm, a fully remote employment law firm based out of Houston, Texas, is seeking a Legal Intern to learn the ropes of litigation and administrative cases for both plaintiff and defense work. You will conduct legal research, draw up legal documents and learn how to advise clients on legal transactions and represent them in court proceedings (including depositions, hearings, mediation, trial, etc.).
Responsibilities :
- Client relations
- Legal research & memo drafting
- Prepare and draft pleadings, discovery responses, and motions
- Comply with the Texas and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, Rules of Evidence, etc.
- Calculate damages and draft damage models
- Draft administrative Charges of Discrimination
Qualifications :
In law school, 2L or above with access to LexisNexis and / or WestlawNot currently studying for the barFamiliarity with various legal documents (i.e., pleadings, motions, written discovery, settlement agreements)Strong analytical and problem solving skillsAbility to build rapport with clientsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsSchedule / Hours
Able to work 5-20 hours per weekMay take off to study for mid-terms and finalsAble to complete tasks by or before the deadlineCan make your own schedule and hours so long as tasks are completed by the deadlineCompany Description
