Responsibilities
In this role, you are responsible for establishing and cultivating relationships with current and potential funders to increase foundation giving, achieve mutual goals, and build long-term relationships. You will be responsible for advancing the American Heart Association's mission by establishing and cultivating relationships with current and potential foundations to increase foundation giving, achieve mutual goals, and build long-term relationships. You will research and develop a portfolio of foundations with the potential to fund Association projects nationwide, including identifying, planning, preparing, and presenting grant proposals and accompanying materials (such as budgets and timelines), as well as completing appropriate follow-through and stewardship for multiple grants / gifts. This position focuses on grants for a variety of purposes, primarily in amounts up to $100K.
Essential Duties :
Identifies and qualifies foundations (up to 100) capable of providing gifts within the assigned geographical areas of the Association.
Develops cultivation and solicitation plans / timelines for each donor in portfolio, updating regularly as plans advance and evolve.
Actively and positively develops each relationship through a variety of communications, including phone, email, meetings and involvement of internal partners and volunteers.
Manages the proposal development and submission process; preparing correspondence, Letters of Inquiry, proposals, reports and other documents; each that are well-written, compelling, consistent with the strategic direction and funding needs of the Association, and that aligns with donor goals.
Conducts external research on prospective foundation donors and continually builds an understanding of the goals and interests of those foundations.
Records all donor plans and activity in Salesforce CRM and provides regular progress reporting as requested.
Works with grant administrators to develop timely and high-impact reports to donors.
Develops own depth of mission knowledge and insight needed to effectively communicate with donors.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
Two (2) years of experience.
Exceptional persuasive writing skills, strong communication skills, and fluency in office technology.
Experience collaborating with program partners, other internal team members, and / or volunteers.
Ability to travel up to 5% local and overnight stay.
Preferred Experience :
Experience in foundation relations and proposal preparation.
Experience leading cross-functional groups with a focus on collaborative solutions.
Experience and knowledge of public health initiatives.
Experience working across geographical markets.
Database research and management.
Experience in budget development.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary minimum to the midpoint of the range is $53,900.00 to $71,000.00. This position is incentive-eligible based on achieving certain targets, up to a maximum of 25%. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials may apply to the pay range. The American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.
