Job Overview WTOP, Federal News Network, and 2060 Digital have long been trusted partners in the DC market, delivering powerful marketing solutions for our clients. As part of that commitment, we’ve built a growing Custom Content Division that produces audio, video, and written content in collaboration with our journalists. This content drives sponsored campaigns across our news platforms, digital channels, and social media, powered by our in-house agency.
We’re looking for a Team Lead to oversee this high-performing unit. This role combines hands-on project execution with leadership responsibilities—ensuring quality, efficiency, and creativity at every stage. The Team Lead will manage a team of up to six, supporting clients across industries, with a strong focus on the government contracting and the B2G community through Federal News Network.
Job Responsibilities Lead the project lifecycle from client agreement to final delivery, setting workflow, timelines, and expectations.
Provide creative direction and hands-on support in content development, including copywriting, campaign ideation, and collaboration with designers.
Ensure campaigns are executed on time, on brand, and with measurable results.
Serve as the primary point of contact for your team and clients—troubleshooting, problem-solving, and maintaining high levels of service.
Create campaign recaps, insights, and recommendations that demonstrate value to clients.
Keep your team organized, motivated, and aligned with deadlines, new policies, and industry trends.
Support hiring, onboarding, training, and day-to-day task coordination.
Partner with sales, digital agency staff, and leadership to streamline processes and strengthen outcomes.
Manage team coverage during holidays, PTO, and other absences.
Qualifications 3+ years of project management experience (preferably within media, marketing, or digital content).
Proven team leadership experience with direct reports.
Exceptional communication and writing skills.
Familiarity with technology, digital platforms, and social media best practices.
Strong organizational skills with a track record of meeting deadlines.
Experience with project management software (we use Workzone).
Creative, flexible, and detail-oriented problem solver.
Customer-focused with the ability to present ideas clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.
Professional, collaborative, and adaptable in a fast-paced team environment.
Ability to work on-site in Chevy Chase, Maryland at least 70% of the time.
Compensation and Benefits The annual base salary range for this position is $95,000 to $150,000.
