Key Responsibilities

  • Clinic appointments and follow-up of labs / imaging / procedures ordered during these appointments, interpretation, phone call consultation from hospitalists and intensivists on inpatients, and availability for case review with nurse practitioners on service.
  • Clinic Responsibilities : personnel shall be present and on time for clinic start times as documented by physical presence in the clinic at the scheduled start time.
  • Communication of Test Results : Mechanisms must be in-place to provide notification of test results for patients receiving care in accordance with VHA Directive 1088, Communicating Test Results to Providers and Patients.
  • Medications : Contract personnel shall follow all established medication policies and procedures. No sample medications shall be provided to patients.
  • Discharge education : Provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all emergency department patients.
  • Approximately 5% of time will be spent on various administrative tasks, reports, emails, etc.
  • Clinic or Operating Room (OR) Schedule : 8 : 00 a.m. - 4 : 30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch
  • Care coverage will be provided at 80 hours every 2 weeks
  • Off hour coverage is not currently required but scheduling is subject to change.
  • Other duties as assigned by International SOS and Fayetteville VAMC

Basic Requirements / Certifications :

  • Current, full and unrestricted license in one or more state, commonwealth, territory or DC.
  • Applicants who have ever had a license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action or denied upon application are not eligible.
  • Active certification in the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field within the last five years.
  • Previous VA or Military experience preferred but not required.

Education Required :

Master’s degree from a PA program accredited by the ARC-PA This degree must have been accredited and recognized by the U.

S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Physical Requirements :

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior / clinic work environment.
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting to 25 lbs.

Other Special Qualifications :

  • US Citizen (Permanent residents can be discussed on a case by case basis)
  • Must be local or relocate to the project site for the duration of the contract.
  • Pass / possess VA Public Trust Clearance
