Key Responsibilities
- Clinic appointments and follow-up of labs / imaging / procedures ordered during these appointments, interpretation, phone call consultation from hospitalists and intensivists on inpatients, and availability for case review with nurse practitioners on service.
- Clinic Responsibilities : personnel shall be present and on time for clinic start times as documented by physical presence in the clinic at the scheduled start time.
- Communication of Test Results : Mechanisms must be in-place to provide notification of test results for patients receiving care in accordance with VHA Directive 1088, Communicating Test Results to Providers and Patients.
- Medications : Contract personnel shall follow all established medication policies and procedures. No sample medications shall be provided to patients.
- Discharge education : Provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all emergency department patients.
- Approximately 5% of time will be spent on various administrative tasks, reports, emails, etc.
- Clinic or Operating Room (OR) Schedule : 8 : 00 a.m. - 4 : 30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch
- Care coverage will be provided at 80 hours every 2 weeks
- Off hour coverage is not currently required but scheduling is subject to change.
- Other duties as assigned by International SOS and Fayetteville VAMC
Basic Requirements / Certifications :
- Current, full and unrestricted license in one or more state, commonwealth, territory or DC.
- Applicants who have ever had a license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action or denied upon application are not eligible.
- Active certification in the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field within the last five years.
- Previous VA or Military experience preferred but not required.
Education Required :
Master’s degree from a PA program accredited by the ARC-PA This degree must have been accredited and recognized by the U.
S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Physical Requirements :
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior / clinic work environment.
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- May require bending, stooping and lifting to 25 lbs.
Other Special Qualifications :
- US Citizen (Permanent residents can be discussed on a case by case basis)
- Must be local or relocate to the project site for the duration of the contract.
- Pass / possess VA Public Trust Clearance
