Johnson Service Group (JSG) is seeking a Sr. Civil / Structural Engineer (NASA) for a 4-month + contract assignment supporting the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, FL.

This position offers a W2 hourly pay rate of $75.00 - $85.00 (according to experience), time and a half for overtime.

U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.

Project Overview :

The ML2 project is the design and construction of a launch platform for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

The purpose of ML2, located at Kennedy Space Center (KSC), is to provide a launch platform for the Space Launch System (SLS), an advanced launch vehicle that will fill America’

s need for deep space missions. ML2 includes many different subsystems that must operate and fit within the constraints of the structure and provide a physical interface with KSC launch sites’ ground systems.

Responsibilities

149; Originate and check complex structural engineering deliverables, such as steel calculations, specifications and material requisitions.

149; Reviews and coordinates technical documents with / from other engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction.

149; Prepare technical reports related to specific design issues.

149; Manage specifically assigned project activities.

149; Assist in constructability reviews.

149; Support construction by dispositioning field change requests and nonconformance reports.

149; Act as a mentor or coach for subordinate engineers and designers.

149; Schedule and coordinate off-project review requirements for engineering deliverables.

149; Lead and / or participate in technical discussions with client, suppliers, construction, etc.

Basic Qualifications

149; US Citizenship is required.

149; Prior experience working complex concrete and / or steel designs.

Minimum Qualifications

149; Ability to independently execute the detailed design of complex steel and / or concrete structures.

149; Thorough knowledge and application of the AISC Steel Construction Manual, and ASCE 7.

149; Proficient in the use of structural analysis software such as GTSTRUDL or STAAD.

149; Experience with CADD applications, such as Revit or Tekla.

149; Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.

149; Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings, specifications, and material requisitions and of construction methods for steel structures.

149; Understands work processes of other disciplines and departments on projects.

149; Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally.

149; Ability to resolve design issues with subordinates, suppliers, other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client.

149; Excellent listening, oral and written communication, planning and organizational skills are essential.

149; Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen, and background check.

Preferred Qualifications

149; Proficient in the use of Mathcad or similar software.

149; Thorough knowledge of the provisions of AISC & ASCE 7.

149; Necessary skills to present technical subjects with competence and confidence.

149; Experience in resolving field problems associated with proposed changes from Construction and working through Non-Conformances.

149; Professional Engineering License
