Summary : Performs a variety of blanking, punching, piercing, and notching and similar press operations on a variety of heavy sheet metal parts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED :

• Work from established practices, work orders, verbal and written instructions.
• Set up and adjust die to provide for type of operation desired.
• Make certain die, stops and guides are correctly positioned; all safety guards are in place with dies and guards secured.
• Make trial run to ensure correctness of settings.
• Feed parts into press manually or from coil, position in die against gauges, pins or other positioning according to die and operation.
• Engage switches or buttons to activate and make machine cycle.
• Remove part from machine and stack in / on appropriate pallet or tote bin.
• Clear away scrap buildup to scrap hopper.
• Visually check parts periodically to ensure adherence to job specifications.
• Stop run and make necessary adjustments.
• Setup guards, light curtains, and programming of tonnage monitors.
• Attach completed tag or inventory cards, signed and dated, to stock production parts.
• Inspect parts with mics, calipers, and functional, plus and snap gauges in accordance with all specified quality requirements.
• Complete stock order reports.
• Use floor controlled overhead crane equipment as necessary to move parts and materials; use care to lift and balance loads properly; operate equipment in a safe manner.
• Exercise proper care in the use of tools, equipment and materials.
• Detect and report faulty equipment, defective material, improper operations and unusual conditions to supervision.
• Maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition.

QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE : Use decimals, fractions and other ordinary arithmetic. Requires interpretation to adhere to requirements.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE : Over 1 and up to 3 years of previous qualifying experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
