Description :

The position is for a Med / Tele / PCU RN.

The unit has a total of 32 beds.

The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 4-5, with occasional 5-6 on nights.

PCU level care is provided on the unit with a ratio of 1 : 3.

Common patient diagnoses include adults and geriatrics with cardiac issues.

Patients may have undergone cardiac catheterizations, EP studies, or pacemaker placements.

Other conditions treated include ETOH, Covid, Bipap, general surgical cases with cardiac history, pneumonia, acute on chronic conditions, influenza, and sepsis.

Experience with tele / cardiac nursing is preferred.

Titration of drips is required, including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, and low-dose Dopamine.

Charge nurses are present on each shift and may take a light load of 2-3 patients.

Nurse aides / patient care techs are available with a ratio goal of 1 : 10.

Registered Nurses are required to troubleshoot respiratory equipment, including Bipap, trachs, and airvo.

Tele / Monitor Techs are available on the unit, with portable monitors used in rooms and tech support at the nurses' station.

RNs must read and interpret their own EKG strips.

Shifts operate from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

If rotating shifts are required, a rotation will not occur more than weekly.

Weekend and holiday work is required every other time.

Floating may occur to assist in other areas, providing full patient assignments in PCU and medical-surgical settings.

All nurses are allowed to wear scrubs in any color.

There are two shifts of department-specific orientation within the first week of employment.

This is primarily a tele / cardiac unit.

Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius.

Any time off requests must be provided upfront.

Additional time off will not be approved after submission.

Cancellation policy allows for four shifts per contract.

This position involves charting using the EPIC system.
