Manager Of People Operations

Elections are the cornerstone of our democracy, with the right to vote being one of our greatest freedoms. Great elections require secure and reliable tabulation equipment, full transparency of the process in which ballots are created and cast, and the ability to audit the results. Our mission is to surpass those expectations in a way that will raise the bar for the entire election technology industry.

We are looking for a strategic Manager of People Operations whose primary focus is to ensure that Clear Ballot hires, retains, and grows the best team in the world. We are seeking a hands-on leader who has experience in architecting and building the infrastructure required to scale a world-class People & Culture function. You are expected to understand and thrive in the fast paced and ambiguous nature of a growing startup and you have the ability to switch context from high-level strategy to tactical operations on short notice. You are passionate about company culture, performance, feedback and helping cultivate growth. This individual will initially report to the VP of Finance and have management responsibilities.

Responsibilities include overseeing people operations, learning and development, diversity and inclusion, and all other facets of human resources. Act as a strategic partner to the leadership team on people initiatives. Lead the development of a cohesive culture across a distributed and remote workforce. Manage all statutory requirements for the various constituencies in which we operate. Expand initiatives to reinforce a commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion. Champion the employee review process to ensure continuous feedback around performance and opportunities for improvement. Lead training and career pathing programs to invest in the development of employees. Build and operate an exemplary recruiting process through headcount planning, sourcing, candidate experience, and onboarding.

Qualifications include excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a People & Culture / Human Resources function; preferably with prior experience running similar functions or other senior HR roles. Strong presentation skills to varied internal and external constituents including employees, executives, investors, and vendors. Exceptional leadership skills and work ethics.

Desired skills include SPHR, SHRM-CP, or other HR certification. Previous experience working in rapidly growing startups. History of managing remote / distributed teams. Experience executing strategic business initiatives across multiple stakeholders and teams. Knowledge of compliance and other reporting requirements. Experience with a third-party Professional Employer Organization.
