CFS has partnered with an outstanding clinical research organization in their search for an Assistant Controller.
Job Description :
- Reporting directly to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will play a critical role in maintaining financial integrity, overseeing accounting functions, and supporting strategic financial initiatives.
- The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and a proactive mindset to drive process improvements.
Responsibilities :
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP standards.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.
- Supervise accounting staff, providing guidance and support to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
- Conduct variance analysis and performance metrics tracking to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Support external audits by providing documentation, explanations, and resolving audit inquiries in a timely manner.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets, forecasts, and financial plans to support business objectives.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and accounting standards, ensuring compliance and recommending adjustments as necessary.
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting to support management decision-making processes.
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and scalability of finance operations.
Qualifications : Credentials
Credentials
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
Experience
- Public accounting experience; Big 4 experience preferred
- Biotech / Pharma / Life Sciences industry experience preferred
- ERP / Transformation experience (plus)
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting requirements.
