Senior Director, Head of Hematology R&D Data Science & Digital Health
Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine (J&J IM), a pharmaceutical company of Johnson & Johnson, is recruiting for the Senior Director, Head of Hematology R&D Data Science & Digital Health. The primary location is Spring House, PA, with additional options in Cambridge, MA; Titusville, NJ; Raritan, NJ; or New Brunswick, NJ. Position requires 25% travel.
We are seeking a visionary leader to direct and lead efforts to deliver innovative end‑to‑end Data Science & Digital Solutions to the Oncology Hematology portfolio, supporting clinical‑stage therapies such as Darzalex, Tecvayli and Talvey. The role includes capacity and talent development, resource management, and fostering a data‑driven culture across J&J IM – R&D Oncology.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Data Scientists partnering with cross‑functional Compound Development Teams to build and implement Data Science plans supporting clinical / research objectives throughout the trial lifecycle.
- Develop and execute Data Science applications—Real‑World Evidence, cell profiling, clinical phenotyping, computer vision / medical imaging—leveraging statistical methodologies, AI / ML, and Generative AI techniques.
- Communicate Data Science plans to stakeholders, seek and manage feedback, and develop fit‑for‑purpose studies serving CDT objectives.
- Define data, analytic and reporting requirements for Data Science‑related projects, including regulatory‑grade and observational research.
- Identify and procure data sets and technologies for bespoke applications, and manage external partnerships, including regulatory agency liaison.
- Lead execution of analytics, report results, and interpret scientific findings, projecting implications of Data Science research.
Qualifications
Advanced degree in Health Science (Ph.D. or MD) or Master’s Degree / Pharm.D. with equivalent work experience in data analysis, interpretation, and experimental design.At least 8 years of health‑care related research experience in areas such as disease / clinical phenotyping, outcomes research, or clinical genomics.Strong working knowledge of drug development and expertise in translational research, clinical studies, or regulatory interactions.Familiarity with healthcare datasets (EHR / RWD, genomics, insurance claims).Capacity to manage timelines and deliver key outputs in a matrix environment.Established leadership skills; experience managing individuals or teams toward clinical / scientific goals.Prior experience driving external partnerships (corporate or academic).Effective communication of technical work to diverse audiences.Leadership experience preferably as a line function leader within a matrix environment.Preferred
Experience with digital health outcome solutions for oncology therapies.Experience serving on multifunctional teams delivering clinical trials in R&D or Medical Affairs.Proficiency with regulatory submissions and interactions.Experience with innovative drug development approaches such as Generative AI.Compensation & Benefits
Anticipated base pay range : $173,000 – $299,000. Eligible for company‑sponsored benefits, long‑term incentive program, 401(k), and time‑off benefits (vacation, sick time, holiday pay, etc.).
