Description :

The Interventional Radiology Technologist performs interventional radiology procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or licensed provider for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols.

Performs high-quality interventional radiology procedures according to exam protocols in a timely manner.

Maintains production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures.

Utilizes effective communication when interacting with patients to identify service requirements and ensure correct exams are performed.

Instructs and communicates with patients and their families regarding the tests to be performed and assesses the patient's ability to tolerate the exams.

Prepares patient and area for procedures by positioning patients, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into specified positions, and adjusting controls to set exposure factors.

Protects patients and employees by adhering to safety requirements, infection control, drug, and radiation policies.

Uses proper sterile techniques during the performance of multimodality procedures and maintains hand hygiene standards.

Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards.

Collaborates with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities of equipment and reports issues to management.

Assists in maintaining supply inventory.

Screens individuals to ensure safety prior to entering the department according to approved policies and procedures.

Obtains, verifies, and maintains all relevant documentation, including patient history and consent forms.

Maintains medical imaging records in accordance with policies and standards for timely interpretation.

Able to explain procedures and put patients at ease while providing services in a timely and accurate manner.

Demonstrates the ability to perform tasks independently without routine oversight.

Maintains a calm and helpful attitude even under stress, taking appropriate actions to resolve issues.

Capable of administering first aid and using emergency equipment.

Ensures customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing courteous service.

Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge and skills appropriate for all age groups.

Able to serve as a preceptor by providing quality training to new team members.

Able to take call as required.
