Job Description :
The Database Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and performance of critical database systems, ensuring high availability and consistent performance across production and development environments.
This role requires a blend of hands-on technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership in guiding database best practices, architecture decisions, and optimization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities :
Design, install, configure, and maintain enterprise-level database systems (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.).
Monitor database performance, tune queries and indexes, and manage storage to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
Ensure data integrity, security, and backup / recovery processes meet organizational and regulatory requirements.
Develop and maintain documentation related to database architecture, standards, and procedures.
Lead initiatives related to database migrations, upgrades, and consolidations.
Automate routine tasks using scripting languages (e.g., ETL, PowerShell, cron jobs).
Manage network demands and requests with provider to ensure Agency complies with State government regulatory standards.
Participate in capacity planning and disaster recovery strategy development and testing.
Ensure compliance with data governance and data privacy regulations.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Technical Skills
DBMS : Proficiency with Microsoft SQL

Backup / Recovery tools : Experience with native and third-party tools.
Performance tuning : Ability to optimize queries and server resources.
Security : Knowledge of access controls, encryption, auditing.
