Permit Technician

This position is located in St. George, LA.

Responsibilities

• Interfacing with all customers to service their building department related needs.
• Issuing and / or tracking permits through the permitting process, beginning with application acceptance, plan review, inspections and permit closure.
• Establishing and maintaining systems to ensure that all files, letters, reference manuals, field inspection reports, permit files, blueprints, drawings, and other data or material are organized.
• Working with plan examiners and inspectors throughout the company to develop and ensure consistent processes.
• Assisting with public record requests.
• Collecting permit fees at the end of the day; filling out daily cash collection sheets; dropping collected fees in safe.
• Performing a variety of skilled secretarial functions; providing administrative support to departmental personnel; preparing correspondence, reports, and other documentation; updates, scans, and maintains the Department's records and files.
• This position may require working additional hours, over weekends, or on holidays. The incumbent must be available to work these extra hours with little to no advanced notice.
• Other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
