General Job Overview
This position is responsible for maximizing the return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems under Ame-Gyu and its consolidated subsidiaries. The role requires advanced expertise in multi-unit operations, financial planning, and regulatory compliance. The Controller works closely with senior management to improve financial performance, optimize revenue, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Closing
- Record company transactions and maintain general ledger and related accounts for Ame-Gyu and its subsidiaries.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (e.g., balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement) to ensure accurate reporting.
- Perform account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and conduct troubleshooting as necessary.
- Prepare consolidated accounting information and monthly reports; coordinate and communicate with the Japanese parent company and US auditors.
- Handle bank reconciliations, wire transfers, account management, and monthly adjustments of certain current assets and liabilities.
- Ensure the accuracy of weekly / biweekly payroll processing.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest practices and knowledge as an accounting professional.
Cash Flow & Cost Management
Support cash flow forecasting and working capital management.Perform proper inventory valuation and cost control for food, labor, and operating expenses.Collaborate with operations teams to improve cost efficiency and profit margins.Systems & Process Improvement
Lead the implementation and enhancement of financial systems such as ERP and POS to improve accuracy and efficiency.Promote automation of processes related to financial reporting, payroll, AP / AR management, etc.Actively propose and take ownership of process improvements.
