About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Profession : RN

Specialty : ICU

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : 12-Hour Nights

Hours per Shift : 36 hours per week

Experience : Minimum 1 year

License : Required

Certifications : BLS, ACLS, PALS

Must-Have : Vent and trach experience

Description :

Immediate start is available.

There are currently 2 ICU units.

One unit is referred to as a "Clean Unit" with beds and vents.

The other unit specializes in managing COVID patients, including both vented and non-vented cases.

Candidates must have experience with ventilators and tracheostomy care due to the unpredictable nature of patient deterioration.

BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required; NIHSS and TNCC certifications are preferred.

The nursing ratio goal for the ICU / COVID ICU is 1 : 2, but there are rare occasions when it may go to 1 : 3 for lower acuity patients.

In the PCU / Regular COVID unit, the goal is a 1 : 4 ratio, occasionally 1 : 5, but never exceeding 5 patients.

Nurses may be asked to function as a CNA if overstaffed, so flexibility is essential.

Every other weekend and participation in the holiday rotation are required.

Uniforms consist of navy or black scrubs; green scrubs are provided for COVID units and must be returned after each shift.

Nurses are expected to read and interpret monitor strips.

Experience with critical care drips, including sedation, is necessary.

An in-house respiratory therapist is available 24 / 7 to manage ventilators and perform necessary procedures.

There is no IV Team, but staff members are available for assistance with difficult IV sticks.

Pharmacy services are available 24 / 7.

Floating between units may be required, and nurses are expected to support all designated areas.

The environment is dynamic, with fluctuations in patient admissions.

Common diagnoses include COVID, DKA, sepsis, pulmonary edema, CHF, COPD, flu, acute abdomen, and post-operative care.

Flexibility and understanding are key traits needed in this position.
