Job Overview :
A leading law firm is seeking a seasoned Senior Energy Transactional Attorney with deep experience in oil and gas transactions to join its Texas-based practice. This partner-track or lateral partner role is suited for a legal professional with over a decade of experience, a well-established presence in the energy sector, and a strong track record of business development. The ideal candidate will bring an existing referral network and the ability to independently generate significant revenue while building and leading a robust oil and gas transactional practice.
Location : Houston, Texas
Duties :
- Advise clients on oil and gas transactions, including asset purchases / sales, joint ventures, and project development
- Draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements related to exploration, production, and operations
- Structure deals involving upstream, midstream, and downstream energy interests
- Develop and grow an oil and gas transactional practice within the firm
- Manage client relationships and generate new business opportunities
- Collaborate with attorneys across related practice groups to support cross-functional legal needs
- Mentor junior attorneys and contribute to strategic firm leadership
Requirements :
Minimum of 10 years of experience practicing energy law with a focus on oil and gas transactionsDemonstrated ability to originate and manage client work with minimal oversightProven revenue generation of at least $750,000 annuallyEstablished reputation and presence in the Texas energy legal communityStrong ties to large law firm attorneys or corporate referral networksEducation :
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Active license to practice law in Texas (required)
