Operational Technology (OT) Security Specialist

About the role : We're seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Operational Technology (OT) Security Specialist to join our Cybersecurity team at Gary Works facility
In this role, you'll serve as the bridge between plant operations and the corporate cybersecurity team , ensuring the security and integrity of OT networks, devices, and control systems. You'll play a key role in identifying risks, remediating vulnerabilities, and strengthening cyber resilience across plant environments.
Responsibilities
Act as a liaison between plant operations and the corporate cybersecurity team.Collaborate with process control and operational teams to design and implement secure OT networksManage vulnerability assessment and remediation for OT environments.Support OT project reviews , ensuring cybersecurity requirements are met.Maintain documentation, policies, and standards for OT security operations.Lead inventory management and system boundary assessments for OT systems.Oversee vendor and third-party cybersecurity processes.Support incident response and recovery planning in OT environments.Promote and help implement the NIST cybersecurity framework across OT systems.Collaborate with other OT security specialists on enterprise-wide initiatives.Must-Have Skills
Proven experience securing Operational Technology (OT) and / or Information Technology (IT) systems.Deep understanding of network and system architecture and cybersecurity principlesStrong communication and coordination skills across technical and non-technical teams.Familiarity with OT network communication protocols such as TCP / IP, UDP, DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850, OPC, OPC UA, and PROFINET.Ability to conduct packet analysis and understand industrial network traffic.Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work in a fast-paced plant environment.Nice-to-Have Skills
Hands-on experience with PLCs, SCADA, and DCS systemsBackground in process safety or industrial automation.Familiarity with vulnerability management tools and NIST framework implementationCybersecurity certifications such as GICSP, CISSP, CISM, or CompTIA Security+.Experience supporting manufacturing or heavy industrial environmentsQualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, or related field— or equivalent practical experience.Combination of relevant education, certifications, and experience will be considered.Seniority Level
