Senior Mechanical Engineer - Pipelines
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead in the mechanical engineering and design aspects of projects, ensuring adherence to design criteria, material selection, and equipment sizing in accordance with established codes and standards.
Collaborating closely with client project teams, you will ascertain work scope requirements, oversee project costs, and proactively address any deviations from project plans.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop designs for various components including gas pipelines, pipeline metering facilities, gas compression facilities, gas processing units, dehydration systems, heaters, filter separators, and slug catchers.
- Design and oversee hydrostatic tests and pipeline replacements.
- Conduct hydrostatic tests for pipeline segments requiring strength testing to establish maximum allowable operating pressure (MAOP), analyzing historical data, defining test boundaries, and resolving potential obstacles.
- Perform pipe sizing calculations, valve sizing, hydraulic and compressor designs, and liaise with regulatory and permitting agencies.
- Specify materials and equipment for procurement, drafting equipment specifications when necessary.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to compile engineering design packages.
- Review engineering plans to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, standards, and industry practices.
- Support in preparing Request for Proposal responses.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering Discipline (BSME).
- Preferred Professional Engineer (PE), Engineer-in-Training (FE), or eligible to sit for the PE exam.
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience, with at least 6 years in the oil & gas / utility industry.
- Proficient in interpreting Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), piping drawings, isometric fabrication drawings, bill of materials, and general arrangement drawings.
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as ASME / ANSI / API / NFPA / CSA (e.g., ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, 49 CFR 192 & 195).
- Strong written, verbal communication, and organizational skills.
