PURPOSE :

World Renew is committed to expanding its reach and deepening its impact through strategic and engaging social media efforts. The Social Media Specialist plays a key role in executing our digital strategy by enhancing our online presence, building meaningful connections with audiences and influencers, and supporting media outreach initiatives. This position is instrumental in creating compelling content, increasing brand awareness, and driving engagement across platforms. By strengthening digital engagement, the role directly contributes to advancing World Renew’s mission to help more people overcome poverty and recover from disaster each year.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

1.Develops, plans, and executes compelling social media campaigns across multiple platforms aligned with organizational strategy and voice.

2.Creates, curates, and schedules engaging digital content including graphics, photos, videos, and written copy.

3.Monitors social media channels, responds to engagement, and fosters community through active digital presence.

4.Analyzes social media metrics, develops reports, and provides data-informed recommendations to improve performance.

5.Researches and tracks social media trends, tools, and best practices to enhance effectiveness and relevance.

6.Supports media relations efforts by researching outlets, maintaining contact lists, and assisting with press content.

7.Collaborates with the broader marketing team to ensure integrated messaging and brand consistency.

8.May supervise interns, volunteers, or consultants on social media or digital engagement projects.

9.Perform other job-related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :

5.Demonstrated ability to manage and engage audiences across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), and TikTok.

6.Skilled in using tools such as Canva, Adobe Suite, and short-form video platforms to create compelling, brand-aligned content.

7.Ability to edit visual content for social media using basic editing software or mobile tools.

8.Strong writing skills with a focus on crafting engaging, audience-specific messaging for digital platforms.

9.Experience using platforms such as Later, Buffer, Hootsuite, and Meta Business Suite to schedule content and analyze performance.

10.Excellent research skills with a strong eye for identifying relevant media opportunities and emerging trends.

11.A collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to work effectively across departments and cultures.

12.A strategic mindset with creative problem-solving capabilities and a passion for innovation in digital engagement.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

This position may supervise consultants, interns, or volunteers on a project basis.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :

1.Professional Certificate in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field required.

2.Minimum of 2-5 years' experience in social media, communications, or marketing.

LANGUAGE SKILLS :

Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required.

1.Extensive computer work and concentrated reading, sitting for long periods of time.

2.Must have consistent access to internet connection

3.Occasional travel within North America (up to 10 days annually).
