Description :

The medical oncology unit will consist of patients with a cancer diagnosis, medical step-down patients, and general medical overflow.

This position requires basic knowledge of the pathophysiology of cancer.

The nurse will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for patients on this unit.

Regularly assess patients' needs and provide skilled nursing services as prescribed by the physician's authorized plan of care and accepted standards of nursing practice.

Provide direct patient care, including nursing assessment, medication administration, treatments, call light assistance, support with transfers, and response to alarms.

Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and patients' conditions to suggest updates or revisions in collaboration with other team members.

Process physician orders and perform ordered care accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.

Follow up regarding medication changes and order clarifications.
