Chief Of Staff To The CEO

Heartflow is a medical technology company advancing the diagnosis and management of coronary artery disease, the #1 cause of death worldwide, using cutting-edge technology. The flagship productan AI-driven, non-invasive cardiac test supported by the ACC / AHA Chest Pain Guidelines called the Heartflow FFR CT Analysisprovides a color-coded, 3D model of a patient's coronary arteries indicating the impact blockages have on blood flow to the heart. Heartflow is the first AI-driven non-invasive integrated heart care solution across the CCTA pathway that helps clinicians identify stenoses in the coronary arteries (RoadMapAnalysis), assess coronary blood flow (FFR CT Analysis), and characterize and quantify coronary atherosclerosis (Plaque Analysis). The Chief of Staff will act as a strategic partner to the CEO, playing a critical role in driving key strategic initiatives, optimizing organizational effectiveness, and ensuring seamless execution across the business. This is a highly visible, individual contributor role that requires significant interaction with the Executive Leadership Team.

Skills / Qualities Required

  • Exceptional Strategic Thinking & Business Acumen : The ability to think strategically and translate the CEO's vision into actionable plans. This person can quickly grasp complex business issues and connect disparate information to form a clear and concise point of view.
  • Strong Leadership Skills : Can lead without direct authority, inspire confidence, and drive results across multiple areas. The ability to build trust and influence senior leaders is paramount.
  • Superior Communication Skills : Highly effective verbal and written communication is essential. Must be able to distill complex information into clear, compelling presentations and communicate with clarity and poise to internal teams, and external partners.
  • Analytical Skills : A data-driven mindset with the ability to quickly sort through messy data, simplify insights, and conduct ad hoc analyses to inform critical decision-making.
  • Collaborative Spirit : A genuine team player who can build strong relationships and foster a collaborative, positive environment among the Executive Leadership Team and across the organization.
  • Action-Oriented & Proactive : Can execute with urgency, manage multiple competing priorities effectively, and anticipate the needs of the organization. This person is a "doer" who takes ownership and sees projects through to completion.
  • Adaptability : Given the dynamic nature of a rapidly growing company, the candidate should be able to adapt to changing priorities and challenges with grace and professionalism.
  • Discretion : Must be able to handle highly sensitive, confidential, and strategic information with the utmost integrity and professionalism.

Experience / Education

  • Educational Experience : Strong undergraduate degree; MBA from a top program or equivalent advanced degree preferred but not required
  • Professional Experience : 3-6 years of experience in a high-performance environment such as management consulting, investment banking, equity research, or a high-growth healthcare / technology company; Previous experience as Chief of Staff is desirable, but not required
  • Industry Knowledge : Deep experience in the healthcare industry, particularly with medical device, pharma, or AI technology companies, is a significant advantage
  • Job Responsibilities

    Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Board of Directors Engagement :

  • Design and manage operating mechanisms for the ELT to ensure alignment on strategy, monitor execution, and remove roadblocks to success.
  • Own the preparation and coordination of all materials for Board of Directors meetings, including agenda setting, presentation development, and follow-up on action items.
  • Prepare the CEO for critical external engagements, including investor presentations, earnings calls, and speaking opportunities.
  • Strategic Planning & Execution :

  • Work with the CEO and ELT to facilitate the strategic planning process, translating high-level objectives into tangible, company-wide initiatives.
  • Monitor the execution of key strategic initiatives, providing regular updates to the CEO and leadership team.
  • Identify and help solve high-priority, cross-functional business issues that do not fall neatly into a single department.
  • Strategic Partnerships :

  • Own the identification, cultivation, and management of key strategic partnerships that align with company priorities.
  • Partner with Business Development, Product, and Clinical teams to structure win-win collaborations with technology companies, pharma, payors, and health systems.
  • Special Projects & Analysis :

  • Lead and execute ad hoc projects and analyses on behalf of the CEO, such as competitive intelligence, market entry strategies, and business model innovations.
  • Conduct deep dives into key metrics and data, providing the CEO with simplified insights and recommendations.
  • Communication & Culture :

  • Serve as a key liaison between the CEO and the rest of the organization, ensuring clear, consistent communication of company priorities and initiatives.
  • Act as a sounding board and trusted advisor to the CEO and other members of the leadership team.
  • Help foster a positive company culture that is aligned with the company's mission and values.
  • A reasonable estimate of the base salary compensation range is $200,000 to $250,000, cash bonus, and equity.
