Certified Surgical Tech FT Days Position Summary

Certified surgical technician providing intra-operative support. Assists the surgical team by acting as the primary scrub person who handles the instruments, supplies and equipment during surgical procedures.

Maintains constant vigilance for the maintenance of the sterile field. Prepares operating rooms for surgery, using appropriate techniques.

Provides technical services and assists in other areas as assigned and directed. Participates in department performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.

Call is required for this position - must reside within 30 minutes of facility.

THE CERTIFIED SURGICAL TECH FT DAYS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE / CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.

Minimum Education : High school graduate or equivalent GED for all current employees. Completion of formal education / training to obtain a Certification as a Surgical Tech.

Minimum Experience : Thorough knowledge and experience in operative procedures, equipment and instrumentation.

Preferred Experience : Two years of hospital surgical experience.

Required Certifications / Licensure : Certification as a Surgical Tech. CPR.

Special Skills : Excellent customer service skills and basic computer skills.

The Surgical Technologist is responsible for aseptic technique, setting up the required equipment, instrumentation and sterile supplies as needed for their assigned cases;

scrubbing and passing instruments and equipment during surgical procedures; pulling cases as needed, breaking down cases at the end of the procedure, sets up operating room and supplies needed for day / following day’s schedule.

Available for call on an assigned scheduled basis as required by unit need. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education :

Required : Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited surgical technology program.

Preferred : Associate degree.

Experience : Preferred : 1 year.

Preferred : 1 year.

Certifications :

Required : BLS, Surgical Technologist certification.
