Communications Business Partner

Communications defines and executes communication and public relations strategies in support of the company's business objectives, image, and reputation for both internal and external stakeholders. This function builds relationships with external stakeholders, including media and community organizations, and designs meetings and communications to leverage these relationships and promote the company. Communications Business Partner engages various internal audiences in the purpose and priorities of Cardinal Health, key initiatives, and strategies with the goal of accelerating company performance. This job family develops and distributes print-based and digital communications including corporate policy manuals, internal newsletters, process handbooks, and function-specific documents created in collaboration with subject matter experts. This job family evaluates employee engagement with internal communications and liaises with leaders to ensure dissemination of communications.

Job Summary

This position is primarily focused on internal communications and is responsible for the development and execution of comprehensive communication strategies and tactics to engage employees and stakeholders in support of business strategies and initiatives. The role applies communication principles and practices, contributing to the communications strategies for the Global Business and Financial Services (GBFS) team and the Pharmaceutical and Specialty Solutions (PSS) IT team within the Global Technology and Business Services (GTBS) organization.

Responsibilities

General

  • Manages a Consultant, Communications Business Partner, who also supports Global Business and Financial Services (GBFS) team and the Pharmaceutical and Specialty Solutions (PSS) IT team within the Global Technology and Business Services (GTBS) organization.
  • Collaborates with executive leaders and other business partners to develop and implement strategic communication plans that reflect the company's mission, values, brand, and priorities all while mitigating risk.
  • Seeks and maintains comprehensive understanding of the businesses / functions.
  • Collaborates with communications partners across Cardinal Health Communications & Enterprise Marketing to follow consistent communications processes, protocols, and reporting standards.
  • Develops processes and protocols for existing and new initiatives and programs, primarily the promotion of events and other engagement activities.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with outside agencies and / or consultants.
  • Focuses on creating and adapting content for site-specific audiences, including Cardinal Health International Philippines (CHIP) Internal communications.

Internal communications

  • Creates and coordinates internal announcements and change management communications.
  • Supports communication of technology issues and outages, known as TechAlerts.
  • Creates and manages content for internal channels (intranet, viva engage, digital signage, huddle guides, etc.).
  • Supports internal cultural and engagement initiatives.
  • Content development and events / AV logistical planning for executive events (Town Halls, Let's Chat sessions, etc.).
  • Coordinates, creates, and publishes content for weekly newsletters across the business.
  • External communications

  • Counsel and support leaders and businesses / functions with external speaking opportunities, third-party endorsements, and media requests, as needed.
  • Social media

  • Ideates social content using both internal and external sources in collaboration with corporate partners.
  • Coordinates business unit / function social initiatives with Enterprise social media team.
  • Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred. Six+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or related field, preferred. Experience leading a team of communication professionals, preferred. Experience working with others globally or across regions, preferred. Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Strong curiosity, strategy skills, and ability to persuade. Strong organizational and project management skills. Self-directed, action-oriented, forward-thinking, and innovative with high ethical standards. Strong analytical skills, good judgment, and strong operational focus. Team player with the ability to work cross-functionally with peers and other business leaders. Demonstrated ability to achieve results individually through initiative and work collaboratively with others.

Independently determines method for completion of new projects. Participates in the development of policies and procedures to achieve specific goals. Recommends new practices, processes, metrics, or models. Works on or may lead complex projects of large scope. Projects may have significant and long-term impact. Receives guidance on overall project objectives. Acts as a mentor to less experienced colleagues.

    Anticipated salary range

    $87,700-125,300 Bonus eligible : Yes
