Investigative Auditor
About the Agency : The New York City Business Integrity Commission (BIC) is a regulatory and law enforcement agency with jurisdiction over the trade waste industry and the City's public wholesale markets. Businesses seeking to operate in these industries within the City of New York must, by law, apply to BIC and be approved by BIC for the requisite license or registration. BIC's goals include : to keep industries free of organized crime and other forms of corruption; to ensure that regulated businesses are able to compete fairly; that customers receive equitable treatment, and that regulated businesses do not present a harm to public safety and conduct their affairs with honesty and integrity.
Position Summary : BIC is seeking an Investigative Auditor to support its mission through comprehensive financial audits, compliance reviews, and investigative work. This role involves examining financial records, conducting field audits, and other financial analysis in support of agency enforcement actions pertaining to illegal or unethical business practices, non-compliance and violation of BIC rules, and other integrity issues. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in accounting.
Minimum Qualifications :
Qualification Requirements 1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or 2. Education and / or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.

Residency Requirement : New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
