Program Associate, Public Affairs & Policy
Location : Sacramento, CA
Compensation : $35–$42 / hour (Non‑exempt)
Schedule : 9 / 80 (every other week 9‑hour days with Friday off)
Employment Type : Temp (6‑month assignment) with potential to convert to permanent
Start Date : 2 / 16 / 2026
Hybrid : In‑office Tuesday & Wednesday; additional onsite days as needed
Note : First week may require in‑person training
About the Role
The Program Associate will support public affairs, policy initiatives, communications, and grantmaking activities for the foundation. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a mission‑driven environment, collaborates well with cross‑functional teams, and manages multiple priorities with accuracy and professionalism.
- Contribute to the development and execution of public affairs and policy strategies.
- Coordinate and support meetings and relationships with policymakers, government partners, and grantees.
- Assist in planning and executing events, convenings, learning sessions, and policy‑related briefings.
- Draft and review issue memos, talking points, and related materials.
- Assist with public affairs and communications grant and contract administration, including proposal review, due diligence, GMS processing, invoice / payment tracking, and budget monitoring.
- Serve as a point of contact for grantees and contractors as needed.
- Draft, edit, and review content for internal and external audiences across multiple platforms.
- Support message development and narrative framing for policy and program priorities.
- Assist in developing and executing internal workflows and process improvements.
Qualifications and Skills
Experience in public affairs, policy, communications, or government.Strong writing skills, including drafting policy and communications materials.Solid understanding of policy, health systems, and the policymaking process.Experience with grantmaking and contract management.Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.Equal Opportunity Employer / Veterans / Disabled
