Defense Warehouse Operations Manager - 12994 Description

SUMMARY

  • Direct Defense warehousing operations activities for organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
  • Direct, manage, monitor, and supervise to ensure all receiving, shipping, stocking, picking, inventory management and outgoing shipments are safely and accurately accomplished to ensure all material is processed correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and quality standards (OSHA, EPA).
  • Work with the subordinate supervisors and Leads, in conjunction with the Defense Program Management team to ensure workflow and prioritization is carried out per the customer or AAR requirements.
  • Must be extremely knowledgeable of warehousing operations to include receiving, stocking, picking, inventory management, shipping, and warehouse safety, and must be adaptable to using different warehouse management software tools as they become available.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Establish operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current.
  • Inspect physical condition of warehouse and equipment.
  • Prepare work order for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment.
  • Confer with department heads to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with activities of other functions such as production, sales, order management, product line, records control, and purchasing.
  • Participate in planning personnel safety and plant protection activities.
  • Supervise and Manage the warehouse employees to ensure timely distribution of merchandise to assure a high level of productivity and quality.
  • Ensure employee compliance to policies, procedures, and quality requirement to satisfy AAR and customer requirements.
  • Ensure productivity and work methods are evaluated to increase productivity and improve services in the warehouse.
  • Ensure established payroll and expense budgets are met through proper employee utilization and control of overtime.
  • Ensure departmental employee time utilization and productivity is constantly monitored to assure rapid and correct response to internal and external customer requirements.
  • Ensure workload and employee utilization are in sync with the production goals and requirements flowed to the operations department from internal and external customers.
  • Ensure packing, stocking, and shipping materials are constantly evaluated to assure stocking levels are maintained at a level necessary to conduct operations without having shortages.
  • Ensure employees are trained and supervised to ensure 100% compliance to customer and regulatory packaging, shipping, documentation, and labeling requirements.
  • Ensure subordinate leaders are provided timely and concise direction to ensure hourly and daily workloads and goals are achieved.
  • Work with Management to ensure operational metrics are met.
  • Motivate warehouse and shipping personnel to ensure that predetermined productivity cost and quality standards are achieved or exceeded.
  • Ensure adherence to procedures that promote the health and welfare of all employees in the warehouse operations department.
  • Ensure efficient space utilization within the facility.
  • Participate in Safety Committee.
  • All other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, supervising, tasking, directing, mentoring, coaching, motivating, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :

Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; or eight years related experience and / or training;

or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • At least Two (2) Years of direct experience supervising and leading a warehouse workforce in the position as a Lead, Senior Lead, Supervisor or Manager in a Warehouse environment supervising others to ensure process compliance, receiving, processing, stocking, picking, shipping, and documentation control.
  • Having a working understanding of ISO 9001, AS9120, quality assurance systems, as well as U.S. Government FARs and DFARs is a plus.
  • Having prior knowledge or working understanding of Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) processes and regulatory requirements is a plus.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills required.
  • Must be experienced with and capable of conflict resolution.
  • Must be at ease with oral and written communications under stress.
