Job Details – ICU RN Travel Contract

Location : Chesapeake, VA 23320 (Virginia nursing jobs)

Setting : Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Contract Type : Travel Nursing

Start Date : November 17, 2025

End Date : February 16, 2026

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Day shifts, 12 hours (07 : 00 - 19 : 30); 3x12 or 4x12 per week (candidate preference)

Hours per Week : 36-48 (OT available after 48 hours for 4x12)

Weekend and Holiday Coverage : Required

Float : Must be willing to float to Stepdown, Emergency Department (ED), or Medical-Surgical (MedSurg) units as needed

Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $1680-$1800

ICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of recent ICU nursing experience (3 years preferred; strong candidates with less considered)

Strong neuro ICU experience required (post-neurosurgical, EVD, stroke care)

Active VA or Compact RN license in hand at time of application (no exceptions)

BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)

NIHSS certification

EPIC charting proficiency required

Must pass EKG testing (80% or higher, no remediation)

Must be able to pass fit testing (no PAPR accommodation)

No prior license or background hits

Must reside at least 50 miles from facility

Flu vaccine required (medical / religious exemptions allowed)

ICU RN Responsibilities

Provide high-quality critical care nursing to ICU patients, including neurosurgical, post-stroke, respiratory failure, renal failure, trauma, sepsis, heart failure, and post-cardiac cath populations

Manage ventilators, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, and conscious sedation

Interpret dysrhythmias and respond to medical emergencies

Perform arterial line management, central line care, and assist with chest tube insertion / removal

Administer blood products and emergency medications

Utilize advanced ICU equipment (EVD, CVP monitoring, CRRT, ICP monitoring, etc.)

Float to Stepdown, ED, or MedSurg units as needed to provide ICU-level care

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including PT, RT, pharmacy, and rapid response

Maintain accurate clinical documentation using EPIC
