Position Summary
Assures food safety and specifications of products and processes by enforcing quality policies, procedures, and standards. Establish a basis for regulatory and customer compliance, mitigate risk, and comply with third party audit standards. The Sanitation Supervisor is also responsible for all activities involved in maintaining the cleanliness of their assigned production area. Sanitation is a critical role in a well-developed food safety program and the coordinator will also have an active role in preventing unsanitary situations in the workplace.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following :
- Oversees and continually monitors effectiveness of Sanitation Program, develop machine specific SSOP for cleaning.
- Assists QA / QA Manager in the implementation and improvement of HACCP and Food Safety Plans, SSOP and SOP compliance.
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory standards including HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), SSOP’s (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures), etc.
- Communicates frequently with production associates, other company supervisors / managers, and government agencies.
- Assists Quality Manager with third-party audits, customer audits, and government audits.
- Generates ideas to improve quality procedures and participates in development and implementation of new policies, procedures and / or programs. Review existing programs to yield feedback and changes that stimulate continuous improvement. This includes assisting in the evaluation of the implementation of policies or programs to ensure the facility is operating based on the established uniform standards.
- Validates quality checks against production specifications.
- Facilitator of training included but is not limited to product quality standards, GMP’s, Food Safety Issues, and HACCP.
- Enforcing Disciplinary Action program as it pertains to quality and food safety issues.
- Generate professional QA documents.
- Pulls production specifications using internal software programs and generates reports.
- Direct all daily sanitation activities within the plant and assure proper completion and documentation.
- Investigate any issues and recommend / complete corrective actions.
- Work in conjunction with Production staff on sanitation tasks
- Facilitate corrective actions related to sanitation and GMPs.
- Control and document inventory levels of sanitation equipment, tools, and chemicals
- Develop, implement, validate and make adjustments to master sanitation schedules.
- Provide initial and annual training on proper sanitation practices.
- Perform zonal inspections each week.
- Perform thorough inspection of entire facility once per month (In conjunction with Quality Manager)
- Assist in the cleaning of all machinery and equipment when necessary.
- Work with the Maintenance department to monitor and assure preventive maintenance of sanitation equipment.
- Assist Quality Manager with third-party and government audits.
- Continually focus on sanitation optimization in terms of both efficiency and effectiveness (willingness to adapt and embrace new procedures when beneficial).
- Review pest control monitoring records and trends.
- Performs any additional duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Preferred Education
High school diploma or GED.Job Experience
At least one year of experience in the food manufacturing industry in a quality assurance role.Certifications / Licenses
Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) certification preferred.Valid Driver’s License and current automobile liability insurance.Skills
