Job Description
ASU, a leading innovator in Higher Education, is looking for an experienced Data Warehouse Manager Senior to lead our AWS Redshift Enterprise Data Warehouse team.
Our warehouse contains 80 schemas covering 4,000 tables and over 60 billion records. A successful candidate will have hands-on experience administering a large Redshift instance as well as the ability to manage a team of technologists who maintain the databases performance.

Salary Range
$73,255 - $118,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties
Manage the day-to-day operations of the team responsible for administering the Redshift Enterprise Data Warehouse. This includes database administration (performance, growth, troubleshooting) and orchestrating the ETL jobs that feed the warehouse
Own the future growth and development of the warehouse architecture. The candidate will keep abreast of new processes and technologies that will improve the performance and affordability of the warehouse
Perform maintenance and tuning required to administer our AWS Redshift database instance. This includes the current operations of the database as well as planning for future needs
Oversee intake of customer requests for data warehouse additions and enrichments. This Manager role will be accountable for assessing and fulfilling customer requests
Fiscal accountability for the warehouse including cloud costs, licenses, and staff
Assume or coordinate other duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or related field AND five years of related experience, which includes three years of supervisory experience;
OR, Any equivalent combination of education and / or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
Experience administering an AWS Redshift instance highly preferred
Experience implementing and supporting ETL jobs (data ingest, copy, enrichment, scheduling) highly preferred
Ability to communicate and lead a team of experienced technology specialists highly preferred
Experience modeling relational database schema / tables / columns (e.g. using primary keys)
Experience administering security in a relational database in AWS
Experience troubleshooting common database issues (duplicate keys, inefficient joins / views, DB performance issues)
Experience in a decision support environment that uses both an Enterprise Data Warehouse and an Operational Data Store and knowing the respective benefits of each
Ability to communicate both technically (databases, relationships, performance) and functionally (processes and planning)
Ability to model empathy, compassion and emotional intelligence
Experience working in a values-led organization, emphasizing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
Ability to help foster a safe psychological space for all teammates where everyone can thrive

Working Environment
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse;
required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions.
