Data Entry Clerk
Serves as a data entry clerk with responsibility for entering a variety of data into data entry computer terminals. Receives documents, selects appropriate data entry program, and enters information into the system. Remains alert to errors and omissions in data furnished. Contacts appropriate personnel and attempts to clarify data, correct errors, omissions, etc. Prioritizes workload based on urgency of job and supervisors instructions. As required, computes statistical data for use by management and for the coordination of required reports. Follows established procedures in entering data and ensures that instructions followed pertain to the job being entered. May complete daily and month-to-date productivity reports showing types of assignments, time expended, and work produced. Distributes reports, etc., to appropriate personnel or departments. May perform clerical functions related to the office department to which assigned. Works under general supervision. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications : General experience - One-and-one-half years of experience in a clerical or administrative support role that enabled the applicant to gain knowledge of office procedures in a business environment. AND Specialized experience - Six months in a position involving the use of personal computers to enter data and / or use of systems programs in a business environment. Substitution of education for experience - One half year of academic study (15 credit hours) above high school level may be substituted for each 6 months of one year of general and specialized experience and the ability to type not less than 25 words per minute.
