Our client is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to oversee and enhance manufacturing processes within a high precision, machine shop environment. This role requires an individual who can develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods by leveraging their knowledge of product design, materials, parts, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, lean tools, and quality control standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with various teams to optimize manufacturing methods and ensure the efficient use of resources.
- Provide expertise in tool design, process routing, and manufacturing methods.
- Collaborate with Tool Engineering, Production Control, and Manufacturing teams for technical guidance.
- Aid the Master Scheduler in addressing manufacturing challenges and facilitate design changes to improve production.
- Devote approximately 50% of time to supporting machine shop operations.
- Spend about 25% of time developing and implementing continuous improvement and lean manufacturing processes.
- Dedicate another 25% to documenting production processes, revising, and drafting new process documents.
Specific Duties
Utilize Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing tools to refine manufacturing and assembly processes.Assist with CNC machine programming and troubleshooting.Conduct cost analysis to identify variances and recommend solutions.Engage with design and planning staff to ensure efficient production methods.Work closely with manufacturing management to align production capabilities with schedules and operational needs.Apply statistical methods to predict manufacturing requirements and potentials.Continuously evaluate current manufacturing methods for improvements in tooling, workflow, equipment reliability, and overall efficiency.Develop and review operation sheets for CNC and conventional equipment for both in-house and vendor operations.Analyze product designs for manufacturability and apply value engineering for cost reduction.Position Requirements
A Bachelor\'s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or a related technical field.A minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, specifically in a precision-driven machine shop setting.Proven project engineering and team collaboration skills.Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, medium-sized company environment.A result-oriented approach and the ability to lead and motivate employees through example.The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving manufacturing excellence and ensuring that production standards meet the highest quality and efficiency benchmarks.
