Job title: Manager of Communications & Marketing (Onsite)
Location: Washington, DC, US,

Overview
The Communications and Marketing Manager is responsible for core communications and marketing efforts. The manager supervises the Specialist – Marketing and Communication and collaborates with other Outreach and Visitor Services staff. The role includes practical and timely writing of press releases and promotional materials, along with implementing marketing campaigns, social media strategy, and website postings.

Core Responsibilities
  • Manages the Specialist – Marketing and Communications, which includes recruitment, onboarding, training, and appraisal.
  • Creates and implements communication plans for Shrine and retreat house events and functions, including flyers, press releases, media campaigns, etc.
  • Provides quality materials for general promotion of the Shrine and Retreat House
  • Designs and implements marketing and outreach plans to both known targets and the general population, with a special focus on retreat groups; collaborates with Outreach & Visitor Services Staff in this function.
  • Participate in executive team meetings as needed, and collaborate closely with other departments, particularly Mission and Ministry.
  • Addresses any communication crises.
Skills Qualifications
Required:
  • Some leadership/management experience
  • Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred:
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish a plus.
Education
  • BA or BS degree.
  • Three to five years of experience in a communications and marketing role or equivalent combination of training/ experience.
