An Ann Arbor-based property management company is looking for a motivated, experienced, and dependable Property Accountant to join our team.
The Property Accountant is responsible for managing and monitoring the daily accounting operations of properties within our residential and commercial portfolios.
Key responsibilities include preparing, analyzing, and maintaining account records and transactions, and assisting in regular preparation of documentation, audits, and filling processes.
The Property Accountant will be responsible for ensuring that all accounting information is completed accurately and within a deadline.
The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as analytical, organizational, and computer skills.

Duties / Responsibilities
- Perform general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll duties.
- Perform daily banking procedures.
- Verify and post accounts receivable / payable information; generate checks.
- Send late notices, collect past due rents, NSF etc., and coordinate related processes.
- Communicate with tenants, vendors, and leasing / management teams regarding transaction matters.
- Assist with preparation of financial statements (income statements, balance sheet, cash flow, management reports, etc.)
- Maintain and manage budgets.
- Reconcile bank and other related statements and close books monthly.
- Prepare required reports in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Experience / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, finance, or a related field.
- Previous working experience in general accounting or property accounting.
- Experience with Rent Manager or similar property management software preferred.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office, Excel).
- Great written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical, organized, and a multitasker.
- Works well both independently and as part of a team.
