summary Milestone Pharmaceuticals is seeking a talented and motivated financial professional to manage the financial statements and other financial responsibilities of a growing publicly traded pharmaceutical development company with offices in Charlotte and Montreal.
This financial professional will be responsible for financial reporting, consolidating financial information, supporting the monthly close process, assisting in audit processes, and maximizing efficiencies of the financial aspects of Milestone’s business.
Idea candidate is an enthusiastic team player, with excellent financial and interpersonal skills to work effectively on the Finance Team and collaborate with the larger organization. duties and responsibilities Contribute to workpapers for balance sheet accounts. i.e., cash and cash equivalent, debt, short-term investments, accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, property and equipment, accrued liabilities, shareholder’s equity, debt etc.; Work closely with teams inside and outside of finance to accurately account for commercial, clinical, and other contract related accruals; Own inventory accounting, working with operations team members and commercial manufacturing organizations (CMOs) to calculate and track inventory value, manage inventory account reconciliations, and create inventory entries; Train and oversee Senior / Staff accountants; Work closely with share-based compensation service organization to input and manage stock awards; Prepare journal entry stock options grants and analyze the equity section including warrants, ISOs and NQ stock options; Assist the preparation of SEC filings; annual and quarterly financial statements and MD&A, 10-Q and 10-K according to U.S.
GAAP. Coordinate with tax service providers to ensure efficiency in the preparation of corporate tax returns and annual tax provisions; Participate in the review of final tax returns and tax provisions; Assist in drafting technical accounting memos to document accounting policies; Participate in and lead meetings intended to identify and recruit outside accounting service providers for assistance with various technical accounting items; Assist in the annual budgeting process; Implement and identify internal controls, process improvements and efficiencies; Assist in the preparation of making the company compliant with Sarbanes Oxley 404(b) compliant; Support the testing and coordination of ERP / accounting software (MS Dynamics 365) updates; Prepare monthly variance analyses, with explanations; Review / approve bank reconciliations and other balance sheet reconciliation prepared by staff / senior; Review / approve payroll and bank journal entries; Education, background, knowledge and skills Degree in accounting or finance with a CPA required Four to seven years of experience in public accounting highly preferred; Previous experience in the pharmaceutical / biotech industry is highly preferred; Experience in Sarbanes Oxley 404(b) is highly preferred; Strong understanding of GAAP is required; Knowledge of Dynamics 365 or equivalent ERP system experience is preferred; Strong analytical, financial systems and organizational skills are expected; Demonstrated ability to work under strict timelines and meet deadlines; Strong interpersonal and communication skills—verbal and written—are required.
