Position Summary
Responsible for developing, implementing, and managing workplace health and safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role promotes a culture of safety by conducting risk assessments, providing employee training, investigating incidents, and implementing corrective and preventive measures to reduce hazards and improve overall safety performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and programs.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and local standards.
- Plan and conduct monthly safety meetings, new-hire safety onboarding, and required safety training programs such as GHS.
- Perform regular facility inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Investigate and document all accidents, incidents, and near misses; recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Analyze safety performance data and trends to proactively reduce workplace risks.
- Lead safety education initiatives to train employees on hazard recognition, emergency response, and safe work practices.
- Collaborate with management and staff to foster a strong safety culture across all departments.
- Develop and coordinate emergency response procedures, including fire drills, evacuation plans, and first-aid readiness.
- Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, insurance representatives, and external inspectors.
- Schedule and oversee contractor activities for periodic inspections, testing, and maintenance of safety systems.
Required Education and Experience
Associate degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.Proven experience in safety management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable safety regulations.Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities with exceptional attention to detail.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Demonstrated commitment to fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
