Cloud Engineering Manager

Responsibilities

Shamrock Trading Corporation is looking for a Cloud Engineering Manager that will oversee a team responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based infrastructure solutions.

The successful candidate will lead this team while also performing as an individual contributor. Strong leadership skills and technical expertise in cloud technologies (primarily, AWS) are essential for this role.

• Lead our Cloud Engineering team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to deliver high quality team results.
• Design and architect cloud-based solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
• Provide governance of cloud resources, overseeing effective cost optimization and ensuring that best practices are followed.
• Plan and participate in the execution of technical cloud projects and tasks.
• Collaborate closely with other engineering, architecture, and information security teams, providing them with technical guidance on cloud best practices and emerging trends.
• Implement and manage monitoring for cloud-based infrastructure and applications.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and learning within the team.
• Ensure comprehensive documentation for cloud infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders and provide updates on project status, risks, and recommendations.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to support our cloud environments.

Qualifications

• BA / BS degree in a technical field or evidence of exceptional ability.
• Must have deep technical experience (7+ years) in infrastructure engineering, cloud architecture, or a closely related field.
• 2+ years of leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to lead and manage technical teams.
• Ability to inspire and motivate team members, build strong relationships, and drive collaboration across departments.
• Expertise in the AWS platform, with a professional level AWS certification.
• Must have hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and / or Ansible or equivalent experience with similar technologies.
• Strong understanding of networking, security, storage, and compute concepts.
• Project management skills, with experience planning and executing infrastructure projects.Task management tool experience with tools such as JIRA preferred.
• Experience in designing and implementing highly available, fault-tolerant cloud architectures, including disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
• In-depth knowledge of cloud security principles and experience implementing security controls and compliance measures in a cloud environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills, ability to analyze complex issues and provide effective solutions.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, evolving environment and stay updated on emerging cloud technologies and industry trends through self-learning and professional development.
• Understanding of cost optimization strategies and experience with cloud cost analysis tools.
• Experience with implementing IaaS CI / CD pipelines, configuration management, and automation.
• Hands-on experience with serverless computing and container orchestration.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English, verbally and in writing, keeping the right people informed of relevant issues as well as understand and execute oral and written instructions.
