Sonoma Valley Community Health Center(SVCHC) is a non-profit, federally qualified health center (FQHC) that opened in 1992. SVCHC began as a grassroots effort to address the lack of access and disparities of health care for the uninsured and underserved in Sonoma Valley. Since its inception, we have grown in capacity to serve Medi-Cal, insured, underinsured, private insurance, private pay patients and provide sliding scale fees for those in need. In addition to medical services, we offer behavioral health, an in-house phlebotomy service, dental clinic, pharmacy services and certified bilingual enrollment professionals.
Role Description
The Chief Medical Officer provides primary health care to clinic patients, directs and supervises all medical and educational aspects of clinic services at SVCHC, and works to ensure that medical and educational quality is achieved and maintained at the level required by funding sources, licensing bodies, and internal policies. The CMO participates in planning and development processes to ensure long-term success of the health center. The CMO works collaboratively with SVCHC leadership team to drive improvements and standards in clinical, operational and service excellence.
Medical Qualifications
A Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
Valid, unrestricted license to practice medicine in California.
Completion of accredited residency program in a primary care specialty.
Board certification in family practice or other primary care specialties.
Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred : speak, read, and write.
Maintains admitting privileges at Sonoma Valley Hospital.
Leadership Qualifications
Three years in clinical leadership / management position.

Analytic ability to develop policies and procedures, goals, and resolve complex situations.
Knowledge of laws and accreditation standards applicable to health centers.
Knowledge of Federally Qualified Health Center operation preferred.
Essential Functions
Efficiently provide direction of medical service, which includes development of protocols, standard procedures and management of all patient care related activities.
Participate in the annual review of Medical Policies and Procedures and finalize approval.
Proficiently supervise medical staff by establishing and implementing a system of peer review pursuant to written procedures, and provide supervision to FNPs which includes chart review, case review, training and medical support.
Review credentials and delineate clinical privileges for physicians and specialists.
Oversee all medical aspects of clinical services in conjunction with related to quality of care including charting, provision of exams, tests, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and drug and device dispensing.
Provides general medical care for men, women, and children. Emphasis on providing health care to a multicultural community. Skills are consistent with a scope of practice for a Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Pediatric physician.
Orient new medical providers and assess their skills and expertise to manage and treat patients and to perform medical procedures consistent with clinic policy and procedure.
