This is a 6-month position with the possibility of extension.

The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 30 PM.

Overtime is available on a voluntary basis.

JOB SUMMARY

Job

Conducts performance and reliability testing on engines, components and installations in test cells.

Key

Conducts performance and reliability testing on multiple and single cylinder engines, components, systems, and controls; performs diagnosis of engines, components, systems, controls, and test cell problems and initiates appropriate resolutions.

Operates data acquisition systems; reviews data for appropriateness; documents data collected and maintains electronic files.

Performs rig, engine and component builds, tear down, and inspections. Inspect and measures components.

Fabricates necessary piping, tubing, and brackets from prints and drawings, drill and tap material as necessary.

Installs engines and instrumentation of engines and components in test cells, test rigs.

Executes test plans assigned by Engineering and Lab staff. Use mechanic tools and measuring equipment, dial indicators, torque wrenches, feeler gauges.

Must have good written, communication and problem solving skills.

Must document time worked on projects and submit spreadsheet on a weekly basis.

Qualifications and

High school diploma, GED or equivalent required with 5 years working on gasoline or diesel engines OR automotive or diesel trade school graduate OR Associates degree from an accredited program in mechanical engineering technology.
