Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer develops, optimizes, and supports manufacturing processes for CNC machining and assembly to ensure efficiency, quality, and repeatability. This role focuses on process design, tooling and fixturing, manufacturability improvements, workflow optimization, and integration between engineering and production systems. Success in this role is measured by improved throughput, reduced waste, and reliable execution of manufacturing workflows.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate manufacturing processes using data-driven criteria such as throughput, cycle time, and first-pass yield.
- Develop and test both automated and manual production systems to improve consistency and productivity.
- Optimize machining and production workflows, including tooling selection, fixture design, and CNC process sequencing.
- Integrate systems such as material handling, transport methods, and work holding for seamless production flow.
- Upgrade systems and processes with new technology and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, 5S).
- Design and install manufacturing equipment, tooling, and fixtures to support production requirements.
- Review engineering models (SolidWorks / Creo) and drawings for manufacturability, applying GD&T where needed.
- Collaborate with engineering on technical requirements to ensure production readiness and quality.
- Interpret technical instructions, drawings, and models to support machining and fabrication of hard and soft metals and plastics.
- Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities while maintaining or improving product quality.
- Resolve technical production issues to reduce scrap, rework, and delays.
- Support inspection and quality processes to maintain high First Pass Yield and adherence to specifications.
- Ensure that manufacturing processes align with safety and environmental standards.
- Study machine and production requirements to develop clear process plans and documentation.
- Organize manufacturing workflows and resource allocation to support on-time production.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with scheduling, engineering, and operations to maintain production continuity.
- Support ERP-based workflow execution (Global Shop or similar) by ensuring accurate process routing and documentation.
- Support the product line when necessary and participate in job quoting to ensure accurate production planning and cost estimation.
Position Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.2–4 years of engineering experience in manufacturing, CNC machining, or process development.Experience with tooling design, machining processes, and manufacturability engineering.Proficiency in SolidWorks required; Creo experience a plus.Understanding of ERP / MRP workflows (Global Shop, SAP, or similar).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply logical process improvement.Ability to interpret and apply GD&T in machining environments.J-18808-Ljbffr
