Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences or one of the physical sciences Biology, Chemistry
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a blood bank which is part of a hospital, health department, university medical research institution or other institution which provides equivalent training and has a Director at the doctoral level.
- Current New York State License as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist
- Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as Blood Bank Technologist, Specialist in Blood Banking, Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)- Preferred
- Knowledge of Laboratory Information System Preferred
- Must possess verbal and spatial ability, form perception, finger and manual dexterity and clerical ability.
- Near visual acuity required for reading results from reports and viewing computer screens
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Ability to read computer screens, procedure manuals and other documents
- Ability to hear doorbells, alarms, telephone, and other mechanical devices
- Ability to pass a test for color blindness
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Job Description
The Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the Blood Bank conducts moderate to high complexity testing on clinical specimens in the hospital blood bank laboratory, including but not limited to type-and-screens, cross match, blood compatibility, and antibody screening.
