We are looking for a skilled and motivated Litigation Associate to join our team in San Mateo, California. In this role, you will manage various aspects of civil litigation cases, from initial analysis to trial preparation, while collaborating with partners and other associates to deliver exceptional legal services. The ideal candidate will possess strong litigation experience, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct initial case evaluations, including analysis of claims and investigation files.
- Draft and review pleadings, motions, and other legal documents, with a focus on summary judgment motions.
- Prepare and respond to discovery requests, including interrogatories, requests for production, and deposition notices.
- Take and defend depositions, including preparation of clients and witnesses.
- Represent clients at case management conferences, hearings, and other court proceedings.
- Perform legal research and draft points and authorities, declarations, and case briefs.
- Collaborate with paralegals, client service coordinators, and other team members to ensure efficient file management.
- Provide written status updates on case progress and develop litigation strategies.
- Handle public entity defense cases, including matters involving dangerous conditions, negligence, and civil rights issues.
- Support trial preparation, including evidence gathering, witness coordination, and budget planning.
- Active membership with the California State Bar.
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a legal environment, with a focus on civil litigation.
- Strong understanding of California civil procedure, evidence rules, and discovery statutes.
- Proven ability to conduct legal research and draft high-quality legal documents.
- Proficiency with legal software, including case management tools, Office applications, and electronic filing systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with trust and probate litigation or personal injury liens is a plus.
