Within our plants around the world, we're constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. That means we're continually seeking diligent, determined performers who think outside the box to help us find better and more efficient ways to manufacture our vehicles.

This pivotal, highly visible role sits within our Global Manufacturing Engineering Architecture and Program Delivery department and helps shape future model programs to lead the industry. The Architecture Team acts on early insights with the Product Development Team to optimize all aspects of new model production. As part of this team, you will interact directly with leadership to deliver the following as it relates to the three major Manufacturing functions of Body Construction Engineering, Global Paint Engineering, and Final Assembly Engineering with particular focus on vehicle assembly plant implementation of Propulsion systems (ICE, hybrid technologies such as sPHEV, PHEV, FHEV, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Develop manufacturing point of view on architecture strategy and align with Product Development to execute future product lines.
  • Initiate and collaborate with Manufacturing Core Teams on the development of the build sequence, installation processes, and tooling strategies for new product launches.
  • Quantify manufacturing and facility impact to launch new model programs including facility, tooling, and labor for all manufacturing functions.
  • Use virtual tools such as TeamCenter and Vismockup to evaluate the feasibility of new model designs for assembly operations.
  • Remotely assess existing facility layouts to analyze assembly processes using Vault and AutoCAD for planning future work.
  • Assess all product designs / concepts for adherence to our Global Manufacturing Requirements.
  • Evaluate "Lessons Learned" from new model launches and implement prevent-reoccurrence actions into future programs.
  • Evaluate and assess competitive vehicle information (benchmarking relative to manufacturing and processing of end-item parts, sub-assemblies, and fastening / joining) to determine incorporation into future product and develop next-generation ideas.
  • Collaborate with a multi-functional team of Program Delivery teams, Product Development, Marketing, Program Planning, Supplier Technical Assistance, Material Planning & Logistics, New Model Programs, etc., in early product planning workshops.
  • Travel to our North American assembly plants for site reviews as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or a combination of equivalent experience and education.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience with Propulsion systems to vehicle assembly.
  • Even better, you may have

  • Master's Engineering Degree.
  • Experience with underbody system (e.g., HV battery, suspension, cab / frame, etc.) decking processes and tooling preferred.
  • Practical assembly tooling implementation experience preferred.
  • Vehicle launch experience in Final Assembly processes expected.
  • Demonstrated Microsoft Office experience (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proven experience conducting work in a virtual environment utilizing 3D tools.
  • Layout design experience with AutoCAD proficiency.
  • Established leadership and project management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to present complicated concepts to an audience with a broad range of experiences.
  • Understanding of PFMEA and failure mode avoidance principles required.
  • Ability to deliver in stressful situations with self-motivation and minimal direct supervision within timing constraints.
  • Effective creativity to find solutions to unstructured or highly constrained problems.
  • Benefits

  • Immediate medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage.
  • Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized backup child care, and more.
  • Family building benefits including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, fertility treatments, and more.
  • Vehicle discount program for employees and family members and management leases.
  • Tuition assistance.
  • Established and active employee resource groups.
  • Paid time off for individual and team community service.
  • A generous schedule of paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year's Day.
  • Paid time off and the option to purchase additional vacation time.
