Must-Have :

• Experience in circulating and sterile vaginal exams.
• Competence in immediate newborn care.
• Strong skills in high volume and fast-paced settings.
• Ability to float to other units as needed.

Description :

RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite.

Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit may lead to cancellation.

This is a difficult and fast-paced unit.

Minimum of 2 years of experience is required for comfort in this unit, while 3 years is preferred.

The unit will accept first-time travelers with experience in large, high-volume settings.

Local candidates are also accepted.

The nurse will be responsible for a patient ratio of 2 : 1.

The unit averages 20 births in 24 hours and handles 30-40 admits, with 40 visits per day.

The nurse is expected to be competent in circulating for Cesarean sections.

Daily responsibilities include caring for obstetrical patients, both intrapartum and high-risk antepartum and postpartum.

The unit has an obstetrical triage unit for screening patients before admission.

Scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births and rescue cervical cerclages are performed.

It is important for candidates to be familiar with a high-acuity environment.

The average patient mix includes obstetrical patients 16 weeks and greater, as well as high-risk cases.

Candidates may be required to precept or orient new staff as needed.

Competence in using PYXIS and EPIC systems is necessary.

The nurse will be provided with scrubs.

Must be willing to work every other weekend and a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule.

This unit is very fast-paced and may not be suitable for nurses seeking shorter contracts.
