Job Title : Beef Cattle Herd Manager
Organization's Summary Statement : Supervises daily operations of the genetically closed beef cattle herd at the Wye Research and Education Center. The program maintains a large registered purebred herd of Angus cattle and conducts both basic and applied research, as well as educational activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience : Three (3) years of experience working with cattle for research or educational programs. One (1) year of experience leading or supervising professional staff. Other : Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education. Knowledge of agricultural procedures, research protocols, and management practices. Knowledge of animal care and handling procedures. Skill in oral and written communication. Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products. Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws. Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service and sensitivity to a culturally and ethnically diverse community.
Additional Job Details
Preferences : B.S. or M.S. degree in Animal Husbandry or related field i.e. Animal Science, Veterinarian Science; 5 years of experience managing a beef / cattle herd; 3 years of supervisory experience.
