Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry position in an acute care setting with night shifts and Epic EMR experience required.
Responsibilities
Work in a telemetry unit within an acute care hospital settingPatient population includes post-cardiac, chest pain, post-cath, NSTEMI, pacers, and oncology casesTypical patient ratio is 1 : 5 for both day and night shiftsBoth 2nd and 6th floors have private and semi-private rooms with similar telemetry acuityUtilizes EpicCare Inpatient EMR and Phillips Cardiac Monitors3 12-hour night shifts per week, 7 : 00 p.m. – 7 : 30 a.m.Every other weekend required—typically Friday / Saturday for night shiftsHoliday coverage may be required based on unit needsRare floating may occur to ICU overflow or Ortho / MedSurg unitsRead, document, and interpret cardiac rhythm strips every 4 hoursManage set-rate drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Labetalol, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Heparin, Integrilin, and Nitro as per protocolBipap, Cpap, and high-flow oxygen therapies are managed by respiratory therapists present 24 / 7Opportunity for precepting, charge nurse responsibilities, and potential overtimeNavy blue scrubs with navy or white jacket; hair must be a natural color and visible tattoos must be coveredShort orientation based on experience will be providedNo IV team, RT and pharmacy support available 24 / 7Block scheduling may be possible if agreed upon in contractRequirements
Active WV or compact RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of acute care telemetry nursing experience requiredCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) requiredExperience with Epic EMR preferredMust reside at least 50 miles from the facilityCandidates who were previously employed by WVU institutions must have a 2-year break before reapplyingReturning travelers who have worked at WVU for one full year must take a 2-year break before returningMust successfully complete EKG testing if applicableFirst-time travelers will be consideredBenefits
