Description
The role of a Respite Nurse is to offer one-on-one time between a child and licensed nurse within the family’s home or community. Respite care is designed to give families a break from the day-to-day care involved in raising a child with special healthcare needs. ChildServe’s respite service allows parents to attend events for their other children, schedule appointments for themselves, or simply take time to recharge.
Schedule
Primarily afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Can be regularly scheduled or as needed.
What You’ll Do
- Provide one-on-one nursing support in the home or community.
- Interact with the child and participate in fun activities.
- Complete electronic documentation and paper MARS
- Possible skills used : medication administration, g-tube nutrition, seizure management, trach cares, etc.
What You’ll Need
Current valid RN / LPN license in IowaValid driver’s license with two or fewer violations in the past three yearsActive BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red CrossExperience working with children with special health care needs preferred.Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing and speaking the English language.Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the assigned work area, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.This position may be subject to COVID-19 safety requirements.
