Job Description
Magnetic Component Engineering ("MCE"), a subsidiary of Dexter Magnetic Technologies ("Dexter"), manufactures permanent magnets and magnetic assemblies made to demanding customer specification in the aerospace / defense, semiconductor equipment, medical, and industrial end markets. MCE is based in Torrance, CA and operates one 48,000 square foot facility with 85 employees.

Basic Purpose and Objective of the Position :
This position is directly responsible to lead our team of machinists in an AS9100 compliant shop. Drive quality, productivity and compliance improvements for the CNC department. Complete production orders in a timely and cost-effective manner. The CNC Supervisor is responsible for ensuring compliance with all environmental, safety and labor law regulations.

- Directly responsible to supervise and motivate the direct labor. Including but not limited to; staffing / hiring, policy adherence, time and attendance management (payroll), coaching, training, performance managing, discipline and termination. Deploy staffing strategy to address shop load requirements.

Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with federal, state and local safety and legal regulations.\n
Ensure that systems and processes are followed to meet or exceed the demands of customer quality and delivery requirements (including regular audits of gauges and in-process inspection forms and trend analysis). Develop and implement continuous improvement based on value stream mapping events.\n
Develop and motivate employees to maintain an acceptable level of quality, productivity and expertise required to sustain and grow the location's capabilities.\n
Assist in the capital equipment process, including optimizing shop layout as well as outsource service decisions, providing input regarding selection of best manufacturing techniques including location, resources, make vs. buy decisions, volume considerations and costs. Assist with new product introduction into manufacturing during prototype, pilot production, and volume production.\n
Manage production schedules to assure timely utilization of equipment and materials to efficiently produce products that meet customer specifications and delivery requirements, while controlling operating costs.\n
Identify problems and / or bottlenecks in production and communicate this information to Production Management related to production schedules or production delays.\n
Ensure compliance with all departmental written procedures and policies. Ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees through positive employee relations and compliance with labor law regulations.\n
Manage department key performance indicators and implement corrective actions to achieve goals.\n
Provide weekly and monthly status reports.\n
Schedule and oversee the CNC team to meet demands, and manage the flow and quality of work to maximize efficiency and minimize overtime.\n
Inspect equipment, tools, and machinery regularly, and oversee general maintenance as needed.\n
Meet regularly review, analyze, and develop actionable plans for productivity and loss prevention.\n
Manage employee efficiency, utilization and overtime.\n
Maintain Safety and 5S program that meets our business goals and achieves maximum audit scores.\n
Perform other duties as assigned or as required.\n \n
Salary Range $90,000-$105,000 depending on experience
Qualifications
Education and Experience
\n
AS degree in Machine Technology or Manufacturing Operations or equivalent plus minimum 2 years of line supervision experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in Lean Manufacturing is a plus.\n
5+ years' experience running CNC Mills and Lathes and Grinders.\n
Ability to read, analyze and interpret mechanical drawings, technical journals and basic financial reports.\n
Knowledge of Microsoft products, Email, Excel, and charts.\n
Experience leading Gemba board meeting daily- reporting KPIs, Counter measures and assist in providing solutions.\n
Knowledge of local, state and federal safety and environmental regulations that apply to this position.\n \n
