Gansevoort Meatpacking is looking for skilled FT / PT Line Cooks for Breakfast and Brunch / Lunch shifts.
Prepare and cook food items according to recipes and standards, maintaining a specific station in the kitchen while ensuring timely and efficient food preparation. You are responsible for the workflow at your station, ensuring food is cooked to order and delivered to servers promptly.
Key Responsibilities :
- Food Preparation : Prep ingredients, chop vegetables, cut meat, and prepare sauces.
- Cooking : Grill, fry, sauté, bake, broil, and steam food items according to recipes.
- Station Management : Set up and maintain a clean and organized workstation.
- Quality Control : Ensure food is cooked to the correct temperature, flavor, and presentation standards.
- Food Safety : Follow food safety regulations, properly store food, and maintain a clean work environment.
- Inventory : Take inventory, restock supplies, and report any issues to the chef.
- Collaboration : Work effectively with other kitchen staff and follow instructions from chefs.
- Cleanliness : Maintain a clean and organized workstation and surrounding areas.
- Tasting and Adjusting : Taste food, check temperatures, and adjust seasonings as needed
- Basic Culinary Skills : Understanding of cooking techniques, flavors, and food preparation methods.
- Knowledge of Kitchen Equipment : Familiarity with ovens, grills, frying pans, and other kitchen equipment.
- Food Safety : Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
- Time Management : Ability to work efficiently and quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Teamwork : Ability to work effectively with other kitchen staff.
- Communication : Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with other kitchen staff.
- Physical Stamina : Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift heavy objects.
- Flexible work schedules to include morning / evenings / night, as well as weekends and holidays
Physical Requirements :
Must be able to be standing / mobile / stationary for at least 7 hours a day, 35 hours a week.Periodically fast paced strides are required to go from one part of property to other.Must regularly lift / carry / move 60 pounds of force.Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands.Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch and climb are required.
